Our Affiliate - Women Corporate Directors, USA ( WCD )
Both in India and globally, the demand for women directors is increasing as corporations seek to add diversity to their boards in response to competitive challenges or mandated quotas. In fact the appointment of one woman director is now mandatory under the new Companies Act 2013.
Vaish & Associates through its managing partner Ranjana Agarwal is keen to ly contribute towards empowerment of women as a CSR initiative. Accordingly, a loose tie up with women corporate directors forum (WCD) in USA made sense.
WCD-USA is an organization founded by Ms. Susan Schiffer Stautberg and its main objective is to provide a platform to existing and prospective women directors to network, share information on best practices in corporate governance, board openings, latest regulatory policies, and rulings of courts that impact various stake holders and to initiate mentorship and training programme(s) for empowerment of women in the corporate sector. WCD-USA women empowerment programme(s) are spread over fifteen countries with more than three thousand five hundred members across the world.
The activities carried out by Ranjana Agarwal as WCD India Chair are not for profit.
The vision and mission of the initiative is to educate potential women executives and professionals who wish to acquire the tools required to face the challenges of corporate board positions and offer them a platform to network and be mentored.
The First ‘Boot Camp’ / Training workshop was held in January 2013 in Mumbai where Kaku Nakhate, President Bank of America, Nancy Jo Powell, US Ambassador to India and Zarin Daruwala, President Wholesale Banking Group ICICI Bank Ltd. interacted with 30 senior women leaders.
